Business Analyst - Toronto

  • Business Consultants is seeking a Business Analyst in GTA to mediate between business end-users and IT application development teams and drive extensible solutions that enhance quality. This individual will be responsible for driving functional solutions to meet the needs of our business partners. They will be tasked with forming working relationships with the business to elicit requirements, become a Subject Matter Expert on the system, and use that information to create working functional designs. Their output will be detailed artifacts for our internal and external development and testing teams. They are judged on their documentation being clear, comprehensive, and adding value to their projects. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of interrelation between hardware and software, can ramp up quickly, and is able gather requirements from multiple teams. They are delivery focused with a keen eye toward project and artifact completion to meet deadlines. This individual can see the big picture, and ensure work is prioritized and time is managed to consistently meet objectives.

  • Required Experience

    • 2+ years experience in the fields of business and/or system analysis
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Visio
    • Experience with standard business modeling techniques, such as cross-functional process flows, use cases, wireframes, and UML
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all technical and non-technical members of the organization including senior management

     

SOX Controls Analyst - Toronto With frequent travel (80% to other Provinces)

  • We are seeking a SOX Controls Analyst role. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with GAAP and SOX, be able to work with little instruction, and have strong understanding of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICOFR). Specific responsibilities include:

  • Obtain a thorough understanding of the various business processes and business units under review. Coordinate and / or participate in process walkthroughs with management (process owners) to review all existing critical controls and implement recommended improvements. Develop and maintain a professional relationship with client personnel. Create and execute test procedures and document test results in accordance with work paper guidelines. Prepare work papers to ensure consistency between test objectives, work program, evidence and test results. Work with appropriate individuals to execute internal control testing for assigned areas. Perform detailed controls testing to satisfy compliance requirements. Assist management in assessing the design and operating effectiveness of controls. Assist with special projects as needed. Ensure that deliverables are completed in a timely and accurate fashion. Effectively document and communicate exceptions in accordance with internal guidance. Keep management apprised of testing status and escalate exceptions / key issues for review.
  • Required Experience

    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent. CGA, CMA, CA or MBA preferred.
    • Two- plus years experience in Audit, Consulting, or Accounting. Big 4 experience a plus, but not required.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Access) and Visio.
    •  Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
    • Quick learner with excellent interpersonal and time management skills and is a team player who is highly motivated and detail-oriented.
    • Ability to prepare and articulate objective, defensible, fact-based information.
    •  A desire to understand the systems and processes under review and Company operations, policies and procedures.
